SAN ANTONIO – Texas Governor Greg Abbott said Wednesday evening there is an investigation pending accusations of child sex abuse, neglect and more at the Freeman Expo Center, where thousands of migrant children are.
The center is hosting unaccompanied migrant children who cross the U.S. border from Mexico.
“Earlier today the Texas Health and Human Services commission and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, separately received tips that alleged child abuse and neglect at the San Antonio migrant facility,” Abbott said. “These products are a biproduct of President Biden’s policies.
Abbott said there were four complaints; claiming child sex abuse at the facility, understaffing, children not eating and the failure to separate children with or without COVID-19.
“In short, this facility is a health and safety nightmare,” Abbott stressed.
In a press conference, Abbott called on the Biden administration to immediately shut down the facility and move the children to safer ones throughout the country.
“While we wait on the Biden administration to act, I’m directing DPS and Texas Rangers to immediately begin investigation these allegations,” Abbott said.
It is unclear how many children were abused, but Abbott said they are launching an investigation as soon as possible and will get answers quickly.
“These are very credible allegations,” Abbott said, ending his press conference.

It’s unclear how many children were on the buses. They will join the mostly teenage boys who arrived earlier in the week.
Freeman Expo Hall has the capacity to hold more than 2,000 children.
The federal government is renting the hall from Bexar County for a 60-day period.

SAN ANTONIO — More than three months after the City of San Antonio opened a downtown shelter to assist migrants passing through the metro, nearly a quarter of a million dollars in taxpayer money has been used in the effort.
The surge of migrants continues at the border and hundreds keep arriving every day in the Alamo City. Meanwhile, the migrant center set up at a Greyhound bus station is costing the city big money.
